Tehri Garhwal: Droupadi Murmu and Narendra Modi have expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident near Nail village on the Chamba-Koti road in Tehri Garhwal. In this accident, 8 people died, while 2 people are reported injured. All the deceased were returning from a funeral in Haridwar.
President Droupadi Murmu termed the incident extremely tragic, expressed condolences to the bereaved families, and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the accident and announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
Chief Minister Dhami gives instructions for relief and rescue
Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the accident and instructed the district administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured and to expedite relief and rescue operations. The Chief Minister also asked officials to continuously monitor the situation.
Political parties also express grief
Ganesh Godiyal and Harish Rawat also termed the accident heartbreaking, paid tribute to the deceased, and expressed condolences to the grieving families. The accident has shaken the entire state and a wave of mourning prevails in the region.
