Dehradun: A tragic news came from Maharashtra this morning. NCP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash. The aircraft carrying him crashed while attempting to land in Baramati, Maharashtra, on Wednesday morning. A total of five people, including Ajit Pawar, died in the accident. Following this tragic incident, people are expressing their condolences. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed grief over Ajit Pawar’s death.
CM Dhami expresses grief over Ajit Pawar’s death: Expressing grief over the untimely death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami posted on his social media account. He said:
“The news of the death of Shri Ajit Pawar ji, the popular public leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, who was dedicated to public service throughout his life, in a plane crash is extremely sad.
He always worked with compassion and commitment for the interests of the person standing in the last row of society.
I pray to God to grant peace to the souls of all those who died in this accident and to give strength to the bereaved family members and supporters to bear this immense grief. Om Shanti.”
Ajit Pawar’s plane crashed while attempting to land: According to the information, the accident occurred when Ajit Pawar’s plane was attempting to land at Baramati airport. According to news agency PTI, three people, including Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, died on the spot in this accident. 66-year-old Ajit Pawar was going from Mumbai to Baramati for election campaigning. He was scheduled to participate in an event related to the Zilla Parishad elections there.
DGCA confirms the death: An official of the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) also confirmed the news of Ajit Pawar’s death, saying that Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was on board VSR Aviation’s VT-SSK Learjet 45 aircraft. The official said that Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was on the plane with two other people (1 PSO and 1 attendant) and two crew members (PIC + FO). According to initial information, no one on board the plane survived the crash.
The charter plane crashed at 8:45 AM during landing. Upon receiving the information, local people, the administration, and rescue teams reached the spot and started relief work. The cause of the plane crash is yet to be ascertained. The pictures that have emerged from the scene clearly show that the plane was engulfed in a massive fire. Thick smoke was rising. The video that has surfaced shows Ajit Pawar’s plane crashing in a field.
PM Modi expressed grief over Ajit Pawar’s death: PM Modi shared his photo with Ajit Pawar on X and expressed his condolences. He wrote, “Shri Ajit Pawar Ji was a people’s leader with a strong connection at the grassroots level. He was highly respected as a hardworking personality who was at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and his passion for empowering the poor and the underprivileged were also commendable. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening.
