CM Dhami inspects Jamrani Dam project; work on both tunnels to be completed by June 2026

Nainital: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is on a tour of Kumaon. Today, Wednesday, February 4th, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Nainital district. During this visit, CM Dhami also inspected the much-awaited Jamrani Dam project, which is being built at a cost of Rs 3678 crore.

CM Dhami reviewed the progress of the dam project in Jamrani, Bhimtal assembly constituency of Nainital district, and addressed the general public. During this time, he said that this project will benefit the local people as well as the people of the Terai region. During the inspection, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that after resolving the long-standing problems plaguing this project, the Jamrani Dam is finally being brought to fruition. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the Prime Minister has a special affection for Uttarakhand, which is why the obstacles to this ambitious project were removed through coordination between the central and state governments.

The Chief Minister informed that the work on both tunnels of the Jamrani Dam project and the construction of the temporary coffer dam will be completed by June 2026. He said that after the completion of this project, both Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will get relief from water scarcity for drinking and irrigation purposes. The Terai-Bhabar region, in particular, will benefit the most from the Jamrani Dam, where farmers will get sufficient water for irrigation and will also be relieved from the problem of flooding during the rainy season.

The Chief Minister said that the current government is not just formulating plans on paper, but is also implementing them on the ground. Kaladhungi MLA Banshidhar Bhagat, along with several BJP office bearers and workers, were also present during this time.

The Jamrani Dam project will prove to be a milestone in the development of Kumaon. The proposed 150-meter-high Jamrani Dam, to be constructed in four phases, will play a crucial role in fulfilling Kumaon’s water supply, irrigation, and employment needs.
