“From Empathy to Empowerment: DM Savin Bansal’s Initiative, Special Exposure Visit for Protection Home Inmates and Girls”

Dehradun: As a result of the Chief Minister’s inspiration and the Dehradun District Administration’s continuous, sensitive, and humanitarian efforts, the inmates and girls residing at the State Women’s Welfare and Rehabilitation Center (Nari Niketan) and Balika Niketan in Dehradun are being continuously empowered towards self-respect, self-reliance, and integration into the mainstream of society.

In this regard, under the guidance and sensitive initiative of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, a special exposure visit was organized for the inmates of Nari Niketan and Balika Niketan. The objective of this initiative was not merely an excursion or entertainment, but to strengthen their self-confidence, belongingness, and positive thinking by connecting them with the social environment.

The women residing at Nari Niketan were taken to Crossroads Mall, where they were shown the acclaimed patriotic film “Border 2.” Following this, they were treated to a friendly lunch at a local restaurant and an exposure tour of various establishments located in the mall. The joy, confidence, and sense of belonging evident on the inmates’ faces during this time were a testament to their enthusiasm to once again join society and move forward. A new hope, a new beginning, and a resolve for a better future were clearly visible in their minds.

Meanwhile, the girls from Balika Niketan were taken on a historical and educational tour of Silver City, Pacific Mall, and Rashtrapati Niketan on Rajpur Road. A patriotic film was shown to the girls at Silver City Mall. During the tour, complete arrangements were made for refreshments, safety, and care. Through this exposure visit, the girls enjoyed educational, cultural, and social activities while also gaining practical knowledge.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal stated that the purpose of such programs is not merely entertainment, but to provide the helpless women and orphan girls residing in shelter homes with practical experience in social, educational, and cultural awareness, enabling them to integrate into mainstream society with self-respect and build their future with a positive outlook. He stated that if these women and girls are provided with respect, affection, and a sense of normalcy, they will be empowered to achieve this. If provided with a conducive environment, their rehabilitation can become more effective, sustainable, and meaningful. The District Magistrate also assured that the District Administration will continue to make such sensitive, humane, and inspiring efforts in the future.

This exposure visit organized by the District Administration not only brought smiles to the faces of the inmates and girls, but also gave their dreams a new direction, a new flight, and a new confidence. Through the District Magistrate’s efforts, this initiative has become a unique and inspiring example of the mental, social, and emotional empowerment of the inmates of Nari Niketan. This initiative is a powerful and vibrant effort to mend broken trust, support shattered lives, and inspire the courage to embark on a new beginning.

District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, Nari Niketan Superintendent Sonal Rana, and the center’s staff were present throughout the event, ensuring a harmonious, safe, and successful completion of the entire program.
