CM Dhami lays foundation stone for Sharda Ghat, inaugurates projects worth over ₹300 crore

Dehradun: Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for various important development projects worth over ₹300 crore for the overall development of Champawat district. The major projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister include the Sharda Ghat Redevelopment (Phase I) project in Champawat district at a cost of ₹10,735 lakh, City Drainage Plan (Phase I) at ₹6,649 lakh, development of an ecological corridor for disaster resilience in the Nayar-Khera area at ₹8,523 lakh, reconstruction of the Tanakpur-Askote CC road in Bastiya Gram Panchayat, Tanakpur at ₹115 lakh, improvement of the Suyalkhark-Punave link road under the Champawat-Khetikhan Motorway (SH-64) at ₹320 lakh, construction of a helipad in Maa Purnagiri Valley (Chuka area) at ₹187 lakh, construction of the Dhunaghat-Basaut motor road in Pati development block at ₹83 lakh, improvement of the Kamjyula-Bhanar-Raighadi motor road in Lohaghat at ₹666.84 lakh, reconstruction of the Sango-Ghingharukot-Bans Baswadi motor road under Pati development block at ₹89.36 lakh, flood protection work from the Kavarala River in Belkhet village, Tanakpur at ₹125.96 lakh, protection work to prevent soil erosion from the Huddi River in Bamanpuri village, Purnagiri tehsil at ₹154.63 lakh, construction of an examination hall at Swami Vivekananda Government Post Graduate College, Lohaghat at ₹672.11 lakh, construction of a central library, boundary wall and mini stadium at the Champawat campus of Soban Singh Jeena University at ₹2,045.78 lakh, expansion of Kasturba Gandhi Hostel, Tanakpur at ₹384.50 lakh, and construction of a non-residential building for the District Commandant Home Guards office at ₹224.71 lakh.

On this occasion, he said that the Sharda Riverfront (Sharda Corridor) project will form the basis for the all-round development of the region and will give Champawat a new identity on the map of tourism, faith, and modern urban facilities. The Chief Minister said that these schemes will strengthen education, roads, tourism, disaster management, urban development, and infrastructure. This will increase employment opportunities in the border areas, strengthen the local economy, and directly benefit the youth, farmers, students, and tourists.

Chief Minister Dhami said that Champawat is a land rich in faith, culture, and history. The spiritual consciousness here is a life-guiding force. Maa Sharda is a symbol of knowledge, learning, and values, and developing the ghats of her sacred abode is a matter of great fortune. He said that he feels a special energy as soon as he arrives on the land of Tanakpur.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the identity of Uttarakhand will be strengthened only through a balance of development and cultural heritage, and Champawat will be established as an ideal, strong, and self-reliant district in the coming times.

He appealed to all citizens to strengthen their resolve for public participation, cultural preservation, and development.

During the program, Vice Chairman, Uttarakhand Forest and Environment Advisory Committee, Shyam Pandey, Chairman, District Panchayat Champawat Anand Singh Adhikari, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chairperson, Municipal Council, Champawat Mrs. Prema Pandey, along with other various officers and a large number of people were present.
