Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the closing ceremony of the Chief Minister’s Championship Trophy 2025-26 held in Nanurkheda on Wednesday. On this occasion, he presented the Dehradun district with the winner’s trophy and a cheque for Rs. 5 lakh.

The Chief Minister stated that this event is not merely the culmination of the competition, but a new beginning for a bright sporting future for Uttarakhand. Sports competitions have now become a powerful medium for recognizing hidden talent in villages and remote mountainous regions.

Prize money worth Rs. 11 crore directly deposited into players’ accounts

The Chief Minister stated that prize money worth Rs. 11 crore for this competition is being transferred directly to players’ accounts through DBT. He stated that sports have now become an important medium for public awareness in the state, and Uttarakhand is being established as a land of sports.

Sports Gained New Recognition Under the Prime Minister’s Leadership

The Chief Minister, citing the Khelo India and Fit India Movements spearheaded by Narendra Modi, said that these campaigns have reinvigorated the sports culture in the country, and India is achieving historic performances on international platforms.

Uttarakhand’s Outstanding Performance at the National Games

The Chief Minister said that the successful organization of the 38th National Games has strengthened the state’s identity.

1.62 Lakh Athletes Participated

Sports Minister Rekha Arya stated that over 162,000 athletes participated in the competitions, which began at the Nyaya Panchayat level on November 23, 2025, and 26 sports events were held.

She stated that such events will prepare athletes for future national, Commonwealth, and 2036 Olympic Games.
