Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the family is a person’s first school, and a mother’s values shape a nation’s character. He added that if the family is strong, society and the nation will also be strong. The Chief Minister was speaking at the “Matri Sanskar Sammelan,” a program organized by the Vishwamangalya Sabha in Dehradun. Felicitating the women who had come from various districts of the state at the event held in the auditorium of the Government Medical College, Patel Nagar, the Chief Minister described them as the pivot of nation-building.
He said that the mother holds the highest place in Indian culture, and the values imparted by her lay the foundation for a person’s character, thoughts, and behavior.
Sharing his life experiences, the Chief Minister said that growing up in a humble family taught him the importance of struggle, discipline, simplicity, and self-reliance. His greatest strength was his determination to dream big and achieve them despite limited resources.
He said that it is not position or prestige in life, but strong character and clear purpose that makes a person great. Citing the examples of Lord Rama and Mother Kaushalya, Lord Krishna and Mother Yashoda, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Mother Jijabai, he said that maternal values played a decisive role in the formation of these great personalities.
He described “family enlightenment” as an important medium for social change and emphasized the balance between modernity and tradition. Furthermore, in the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, such programs symbolize cultural awakening. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that such events will energize the women power and strengthen the resolve to build society and the nation.
