Dehradun. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired the first board meeting with departments, stakeholders, and PPP companies involved in the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of ropeway projects in Uttarakhand. The meeting comprehensively reviewed the current status of ongoing and proposed ropeway projects in various districts. The relevant District Magistrates were also briefed on the progress of the projects.
Important for the State’s Economy and Mobility
The Chief Secretary stated that ropeway projects are crucial for the state’s economy, tourism, urban mobility, and overall development. He directed that procedures such as viability studies be presented to the High Power Committee at an early stage so that all aspects of the projects can be discussed in a timely manner. He emphasized the need for thorough and prompt scrutiny of ropeway proposals to ensure prompt resolution of all issues, thus avoiding unnecessary delays.
Emphasis on Timeliness in PPP Projects
The Chief Secretary directed that all formalities, including technical, financial, and administrative approvals, for ropeway projects being built under the PPP mode be completed expeditiously and that the work be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Taking note of the delays in the Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project, he issued clear instructions to expedite its progress.
He directed that local-level challenges be addressed by establishing better coordination between the district administration, government construction agencies, the Public Works Department, and security agencies (police). He also directed that matters to be presented before the High Power Committee or Board be presented in a timely manner. The meeting was attended by Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Dr. Pankaj Pandey, Dheeraj Singh Garbyal, Additional Secretary Abhishek Ruhela, Prashant Jain from NHLML, and officials from the relevant departments.
