Dehradun: Over the past four years under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, several important works have been carried out to strengthen rural infrastructure in Uttarakhand. According to the Panchayati Raj Department, 819 Panchayat buildings have been constructed and reconstructed in the state during this period.
There are a total of 5,867 Panchayat buildings in the state, of which 1,134 had been in dilapidated condition for a long time. To rebuild these buildings, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed the Panchayati Raj Department to run a special campaign. Following these instructions, the department worked rapidly and completed the construction and reconstruction of 819 Panchayat buildings in four years, while work on the remaining buildings is still ongoing.

Panchayati Raj Minister Satpal Maharaj shared this information in the Assembly during the Question Hour on Tuesday. He said that the construction of Panchayat buildings is helping in better management of administrative work in rural areas and providing several facilities to local residents.
Campaign to improve road conditions
The government has also launched a major campaign to improve the condition of roads in the state. According to the Public Works Department, more than 7,000 kilometers of roads in the state have been made pothole-free.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, before the monsoon in 2025–26, roads with a total length of 3,134 kilometers were made pothole-free. After the monsoon, by November 10, 2025, repairs were completed on 4,149.17 kilometers of roads to remove potholes. Under this campaign, more than 313 kilometers of roads were repaired in Haridwar district alone.
Rapid progress on ropeway projects
Work on ropeway projects is also progressing rapidly to promote religious tourism in the state. According to the Tourism Department, plans are underway to connect several major pilgrimage sites through ropeways.
The ropeway from Kaddukhal to Surkanda Devi Temple has already started operations. In addition, construction of a ropeway from Thuligad to Purnagiri in Champawat district is ongoing.
The process is also moving forward quickly for ropeway projects from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri Temple, Gaurikund to Kedarnath Dham, and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib.
The government believes that once these projects are completed, they will provide great convenience to pilgrims and give a new boost to tourism in the state.
