House Functioned Late into the Night on Fifth Day; Dhami Government’s Budget of ₹1.11 Lakh Crore Passed

Gairsain: The Uttarakhand Assembly’s budget session continued late into the night on the fifth day, with proceedings lasting until around 12:30 AM. The House then passed the ₹1,11,703.21 crore budget presented by the Dhami government, after which the session was adjourned indefinitely.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had presented the budget for the financial year 2026–27 on the first day of the session. It was the first time Dhami presented the state budget in the capacity of Finance Minister.

The size of the budget is 10.41% higher than the current financial year. The government has described the budget as being based on the principle of “knowledge and balance” to move toward building a self-reliant and developed Uttarakhand.

According to government estimates, the state expects ₹1,11,703.21 crore in revenue in the new financial year, including:

  • ₹67,525.77 crore in revenue receipts
  • ₹42,617.35 crore in capital receipts

The government has presented a tax-free budget and expects the revenue deficit to remain zero. However, a fiscal deficit of ₹12,579.70 crore has been projected.

The Dhami government said that this budget will play an important role in overall development, strengthening infrastructure, and increasing employment opportunities in the state.
