Dehradun: A high-level committee meeting regarding preparations for Kumbh 2027 was held at the Secretariat on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. Various proposals related to the Kumbh Mela were approved, and ongoing works were reviewed in detail.
The Chief Secretary directed that government orders (GOs) for pending works be issued immediately. He also stated that temporary works costing less than ₹1 crore would be approved by a committee headed by the Garhwal Commissioner.
He instructed that works related to Chandidevi and Mansadevi be started soon and emphasized prioritizing all tasks as per requirement. Instructions were also given to immediately begin the bidding process for empaneling agencies for tents, barricading, and other arrangements.
He directed the deployment of an audit team for Kumbh works and asked the Information, Tourism, and Culture Department to present its action plan in the next meeting. The Mela Officer was also instructed to prepare a detailed plan for cultural programs during the Kumbh.
He asked for a plan to ease traffic congestion in the Kankhal area and directed that all construction works must be completed by October 2026.
Mela Officer Sonika informed that a total of 33 works worth ₹191.30 crore have been proposed, out of which 31 have started, and two are in the tender process. She assured that all works will be completed by October 2026.
The Chief Secretary instructed regular monitoring of all works and asked departmental secretaries to review progress and present reports in each meeting.
