Dehradun: A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas, fuel, and essential commodities in view of current global conditions.
Officials stated that there is no shortage of gas or essential items in the state and appealed to citizens not to panic-buy.
The Chief Secretary emphasized reducing dependence on imports and accelerating the shift towards green energy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2070.
Key directions:
- Ensure adequate gas supply during the upcoming Char Dham Yatra
- Strict action against black marketing and hoarding
- Increased surveillance in border areas, especially near Nepal
- Transparent distribution of fertilizers using agri-tech and farmer data
- Fast-track approvals for PNG pipeline expansion
- Promote green energy in industries and transport
Regular press briefings were also ordered to prevent rumors and ensure accurate information reaches the public.
The meeting also emphasized promoting alternative energy sources such as solar cookers, biogas plants, pine-needle briquettes, and electric vehicles.
A support mechanism for Uttarakhand residents stranded in Gulf and Middle East countries was also discussed, with Nivedita Kukreti appointed as the nodal officer.
