Dehradun: Preparations have been intensified for the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Dehradun. Although the official date of the visit has not yet been announced, the venue and program outline have almost been finalized.
A large public rally is being planned at Mahindra Ground in the Cantonment area. The rally is likely to take place in the first week of April.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have also visited Uttarakhand. In this context, the Prime Minister’s visit is considered highly significant from both political and developmental perspectives.
Discussions about the visit gained momentum after Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently met the Prime Minister. It is believed that development projects and the proposed program were also discussed during the meeting.
During his visit, the Prime Minister may inaugurate the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, which is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities and boost tourism and trade.
According to the tentative plan, the Prime Minister may arrive by helicopter at GTC Helipad and then travel by road from Asharodi to the Cantonment area, before addressing the public at Mahindra Ground.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has also become active in organizing the rally, assigning responsibilities to workers at the booth level to ensure maximum public participation.
Security arrangements are being tightened in view of the proposed visit. Extensive security measures are being put in place around the Cantonment area and Mahindra Ground, along with special traffic management plans.
