Chief Minister Dhami on Delhi visit, meets Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, discussions held on several important issues

New Delhi/Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi on Saturday. During this, the Chief Minister held detailed discussions with the Union Minister on various important issues related to the state.

The Chief Minister requested approval of about ₹325 crore for a project related to the Ganga Corridor area in Haridwar city. Along with this, keeping Kumbh-2027 in mind, he urged for early approval of ₹325 crore for the first phase of undergrounding of power lines and automation of the electrical system under this project.

The Chief Minister also requested approval of the remaining approximately ₹425 crore under the second phase. He said that these works will help make the electricity system in Haridwar more secure and modern.

The Chief Minister also discussed preparations for Kumbh-2027 to be held in Haridwar and Rishikesh. He requested cooperation from the Central Government for beautification of ghats, strengthening of accommodation facilities, and development of urban infrastructure in Haridwar. He said that these works will provide better facilities to pilgrims and tourists visiting the state.

The Chief Minister also proposed extending the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project from Meerut to Haridwar and Rishikesh to strengthen regional transport. Along with this, a request was also made for development of the Dehradun–Haridwar–Rishikesh metro corridor, which will make travel between these cities easier.

The Chief Minister said that implementation of these projects will reduce dependence on road transport and decrease traffic congestion. It will also give new momentum to regional economic activities, tourism, and overall development by connecting major pilgrimage sites of Uttarakhand with a modern transport network.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar assured positive action on the proposals presented by the Chief Minister.
