Dehradun: Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the closing ceremony of the North Zone Regional Conference organized under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). This two-day conference was held in Dehradun with the theme “Enhancing Access to Justice” and “Justice Beyond Barriers.”
At the closing ceremony, Governor Gurmeet Singh, Chief Justice of India Justice Suryakant, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, along with judges from the Supreme Court and High Courts and legal experts, were present.
The program began with the lighting of the lamp and the national anthem. Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta delivered the welcome address. Judicial officers and legal service authorities from Uttarakhand and other northern states participated in the conference.
During the conference, detailed discussions were held on important issues such as improving access to justice, protecting the rights of marginalized sections, prison reforms, rights of undertrial prisoners, safety of women and children, and rehabilitation of acid attack victims.
On this occasion, the “Nyaya Mitra Portal” was launched, enabling citizens to file complaints online. An e-booklet was also released.
In his address, CM Dhami said that the success of the justice system lies in ensuring timely justice reaches the last person. He emphasized the need to make the judicial process simple, transparent, and barrier-free.
He appreciated initiatives of the central government such as e-Courts, the National Judicial Data Grid, and Fast Track Courts. He also highlighted steps taken by the state government, including digital courts, e-filing, and virtual hearings, as important for strengthening the justice system.
CM Dhami expressed confidence that the suggestions from this conference will help make the justice system more effective and people-centric in the future.
