Bengal will get a ‘double engine’ government: CM Dhami ahead of counting

Dehradun: Ahead of the counting of votes on May 4 in five states and one Union Territory, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made a major claim regarding West Bengal. He said that a ‘double engine’ BJP government is going to be formed in the state.

Speaking to the media, CM Dhami said that during his campaign in West Bengal, he observed strong public anger and a wave of change. He said, “Exit polls are their own matter, but when I went there, I clearly saw anger against the TMC government. There is no doubt that the BJP will form the government this time.”

He also said that record-level voting in West Bengal reflects the public’s mood for change. In the second phase, 92.67% voting was recorded, which is considered significant.

Referring to exit polls, he said most surveys show BJP in the lead. Some agencies have predicted a majority for BJP, while Mamata Banerjee-led TMC is expected to get fewer seats.

Reports suggest BJP may get 150–160 seats, while TMC may be reduced to 30–40 seats. However, some surveys also indicate a close contest.

Elections have been completed in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, with counting scheduled for May 4.
