Jaipur: Rajasthan’s administrative setup is set for significant changes in 2026, with multiple IAS retirements, return of officers from central deputation, and discussions around a fresh reshuffle gaining momentum.
Two IAS Officers to Retire in May
Two senior IAS officers—Omprakash Bairwa and Laxmi Narayan Mantri—are scheduled to retire on May 31, marking the beginning of a series of retirements this year.
More Retirements Scheduled Through 2026
The retirement calendar indicates a steady exit of senior officers:
- July: Ram Niwas Mehta and Sitaram Jat
- August: Shruti Bhardwaj
Key Retirements in September
September will see a major cluster of retirements, including five IAS officers:
- V Srinivas (current Chief Secretary)
- Tanmay Kumar
- Nalini Kathotria
- Anil Kumar Agrawal
- Hem Pushpa Sharma
However, officials note that the retirement of Chief Secretary V. Srinivas could change if he is granted an extension.
Final Retirement in October
The last IAS officer to retire in 2026 will be Mahavir Prasad, scheduled to retire in October.
Officers Returning from Central Deputation
In May, two IAS officers—Krishna Kant Pathak and Prakash Rajpurohit—are set to return from central deputation.
Sources indicate that their repatriation was requested by the state government. Although they were expected to return in March, both officers were assigned election duties by the Election Commission of India, delaying their return.
With elections now concluded, their repatriation process has been completed.
Fresh IAS Reshuffle on the Cards
There is growing buzz around a new list of IAS transfers in Rajasthan. Sources suggest that:
- Some names from earlier lists may be reshuffled
- Two Secretaries and two District Collectors could be affected
- Officers currently under APO (Awaiting Posting Orders) may be reassigned
Among them, Khajan Singh has been under APO since December 2025, while Pratima Dahiya—who recently shifted cadre from Haryana—has been under APO since March 2026.

With multiple retirements, returning officers, and a potential reshuffle, Rajasthan’s bureaucracy is likely to undergo notable structural changes in the coming months, impacting key administrative positions across the state.
