CM Dhami’s vision: Uttarakhand to become a global center of knowledge, science, and culture

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a major step toward making Uttarakhand a global center of Indian knowledge, science, and cultural heritage. In this context, he chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat to review plans for the development and expansion of the Shri Madan Mohan Malaviya Oriental Research Institute located in Rishikul, Haridwar.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister made it clear that the institute will not only be a center of research but also a confluence of India’s knowledge traditions, ancient science, and modern studies. He directed officials to begin work soon and complete it before the Kumbh. The Tourism Department has been designated as the nodal agency, and instructions have been given for fortnightly review meetings.

He stated that Uttarakhand has been a land of sages, knowledge, and scientific thought. Through this institute, modern research will be promoted in areas such as Vedic mathematics, scientific knowledge in the Vedas, philosophy of the Upanishads, Indian logic, and environmental science. The contributions of great scholars like Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, and Varahamihira will also be integrated into education and research.

Plans include establishing specialized study centers in fields such as astronomy, metallurgy, agricultural science, and environmental conservation. Additionally, a digital manuscript preservation center, modern library, research laboratories, and e-learning facilities will be developed.

The Chief Minister added that the institute will also become a center for moral values, discipline, and nation-building. It will work toward promoting Indian philosophy, yoga, Ayurveda, astrology, and cultural traditions at the global level.

The government aims to develop this institute into a multidimensional center that integrates knowledge, spirituality, science, and culture, attracting researchers and students from across India and abroad.
