Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government is now working towards developing Badrinath Dham as a modern “Spiritual Hill Town.” On Wednesday, officials from the Tourism Department presented detailed information regarding works being carried out under the Badrinath Dham Master Plan before Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Secretariat.
Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Garbyal explained through a presentation that phased and multidimensional projects are being implemented to develop Badrinath Dham into a spiritual smart hill town. The objective is to provide devotees with a divine and organized experience along with modern facilities.
Officials stated that several special locations are being developed under the master plan while preserving the area’s beauty, cultural identity, and spiritual significance. Dev Darshani Point will be developed in such a way that devotees can get a grand and divine first view of Badrinath Dham from there. Similarly, Badrinarayan Chowk will be developed as a major spiritual and cultural center with improved facilities and attractive public spaces.
Under the master plan, murals based on local art and religious themes will be created on the ISBT wall of Badrinath Dham to showcase the region’s cultural heritage. Attractive landscapes reflecting nature, spirituality, and Uttarakhand’s traditional art will also be developed through Vasudha Vatika.
Symbols associated with Lord Vishnu will be given special importance in the plan. Grand artworks representing Panchajanya Shankh, Kaumodaki Gada, Sudarshan Chakra, and Vaikunth Dwar will be constructed. Additionally, Sheshnetra artwork and structures based on the Panch Tatva theme will depict Indian philosophy and spiritual energy. Symbols related to the Ramayana and Mahabharata periods have also been included in the project.
The Diya Aarti site for devotees will also be specially developed to make the aarti experience divine and memorable. The entire area will feature modern and environment-friendly streetscapes, including pedestrian pathways, lighting arrangements, seating facilities, signage, and beautification works.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials to ensure all necessary provisions in the master plan to make the divine form of Badrinath Dham even more grand and attractive. He emphasized that local culture and environmental conservation should receive special attention in all development works.
The Chief Minister said that after completion of these projects, Badrinath Dham will emerge as a balanced confluence of faith, modernity, and nature, giving a new direction to religious tourism.
