Dehradun: To promote energy conservation and the efficient use of resources, the Information Department will now observe “No Vehicle Day” every Saturday. Following government instructions, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari issued directives to departmental officers and employees in this regard.
Director General Banshidhar Tiwari appealed to officials and employees to use public transport, bicycles, or other alternative means for commuting to and from office every Saturday. He said that small efforts collectively become the foundation of major positive changes and that this initiative would strengthen the national campaign for energy conservation.
He stated that by adopting this initiative, the Information Department itself would set a positive example for society. Through “No Vehicle Day,” not only would fuel savings be ensured, but it would also significantly contribute to environmental protection by reducing carbon emissions.
The Director General urged departmental employees to make the campaign successful through public participation, adding that environmental protection and energy conservation have become the greatest needs of the time.
