Dehradun: The state government has issued strict instructions to industries regarding the protection of workers’ rights and maintaining industrial peace. A review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu was held at the Secretariat auditorium with industry representatives and officials to discuss minimum wages, overtime, bonuses, and other statutory facilities for workers.
During the meeting, R.K. Sudhanshu directed the Industry Commissioner, Labour Commissioner, and representatives of industrial organizations to ensure full compliance with labour laws in all industrial establishments. He stated that workers should receive all facilities transparently and that regular dialogue should be maintained with workers to preserve industrial peace.
He instructed officials to conduct a fresh large-scale screening to ensure that all workers are receiving wages and facilities according to prescribed standards. He also warned that legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to spread misinformation or confusion.
Representatives of industrial organizations claimed that workers in their establishments were already receiving minimum wages and other benefits as per norms. The government reiterated that protecting workers’ interests remains one of its top priorities.
Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu said that the state government and labour department are fully sensitive toward workers’ issues and are continuously working to safeguard their interests.
Representatives including Sridhar Babu Adanki, Saurav Gaharwar, and P.C. Dumka were present at the meeting.
