Dehradun: Keeping in mind the safety of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra, the Human Upliftment Service Committee has once again arranged a collective accident insurance cover worth ₹10 crore for pilgrims this year. Under this scheme, devotees visiting all four shrines will receive insurance protection during the pilgrimage.
Tourism, Religious Affairs, and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj handed over the premium cheque to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The insurance has been arranged through United India Insurance Company Limited via the Shri Badrinath-Shri Kedarnath Temple Committee.
Under the scheme, insurance coverage of ₹2.5 crore each has been allocated for all four shrines. In case of incidents such as stampedes, natural disasters, divine calamities, or terrorism within temple premises during the pilgrimage, each affected devotee will receive financial assistance of ₹1 lakh.
According to experts, the Char Dham Yatra conducted in high-altitude regions—especially Kedarnath Dham—poses significant health risks, where many pilgrims face breathing, heart-related, and other medical complications every year. In such circumstances, the insurance scheme acts as an additional safety shield for travelers.
Government and religious organizations have also appealed to pilgrims to undergo health checkups before the journey, carry essential medicines, and strictly follow administrative guidelines.
Chairman of the Shri Badrinath-Shri Kedarnath Temple Committee Hemant Dwivedi and BJP youth leader Suyash Rawat were also present during the program.
