Dhami Government Takes Tough Stand on Forest Fires; 1,000 Forest Guard Posts to Be Filled, CM Dhami Holds High-Level Meeting

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level review meeting regarding forest fire control, drinking water arrangements, healthcare services, and monsoon preparedness. During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed officials to take strict action against those responsible for setting forest fires and ensure that officials reach the affected site within one hour of receiving information about a fire.

The Chief Minister emphasized implementing the “Sheetlakhet Model” across the state to prevent forest fires. He directed authorities to construct small water ponds near fire lines, provide necessary equipment to firefighting personnel, and intensify public awareness campaigns. He also announced recruitment for 1,000 new posts of forest guards in the Forest Department.

Considering the summer season, the meeting also focused on ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply, immediate repair of damaged pipelines, and preventing disruptions in electricity supply. The Chief Minister especially stressed adequate drinking water arrangements at pilgrimage and tourist destinations.

Reviewing monsoon preparedness, the Chief Minister instructed officials to maintain extra vigilance in sensitive areas and directed in-charge secretaries to inspect districts. The Health Department was instructed to conduct fire safety audits of all hospitals and strengthen cleanliness arrangements.

Regarding the Char Dham Yatra, the Chief Minister stated that the safety and convenience of pilgrims remain the government’s top priority. Travelers who fail health check-ups should be advised against undertaking the pilgrimage.
