Haldwani: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting with district officials in Haldwani regarding law and order, the Char Dham Yatra, and public facilities. During the discussion on the issue of offering namaz in open places, the Chief Minister stated that there is no restriction on offering namaz, but it should only be performed at designated locations so that common citizens and pilgrims do not face inconvenience. Meanwhile, the issue has sparked political debate across the state, with various parties reacting to the statement.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Haldwani, where he reviewed various administrative arrangements with district officials. The meeting included detailed discussions on law and order, traffic management, the Char Dham Yatra, and issues concerning the general public. The Chief Minister directed officials to provide better facilities for pilgrims and local residents visiting the state.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, CM Dhami also shared his views on the issue of offering namaz in open spaces.
He said that no one is prohibited from offering namaz, but it is necessary to ensure that prayers are conducted only at fixed and designated places. CM Dhami added that no religious activity should create inconvenience for roads, traffic, or the general public.
He further said that the Char Dham Yatra is currently underway and a large number of pilgrims are arriving in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, the government’s priority is to maintain smooth arrangements on the pilgrimage routes and prevent any disorder.
He said the state government is continuously monitoring the yatra to ensure it remains safe, smooth, and well-organized. The Chief Minister also instructed officials to strengthen health services, drinking water arrangements, parking facilities, security, and traffic management. He said the government aims to ensure that every pilgrim visiting Uttarakhand returns with a positive experience.
It is noteworthy that CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s statement against offering namaz on roads has intensified political reactions in the state, with various political parties expressing their views on the issue.
