Major Relief for Statehood Activists: Dhami Government Extends Verification Deadline, Approves ₹213 Crore Development Projects

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has extended the deadline for resolving pending applications related to the identification of statehood movement activists.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved the extension, allowing applications received up to 2021 to be processed until September 24, 2026. Official orders have already been issued.

The government said the decision will provide relief to many activists whose applications have been pending for a long time. The Chief Minister emphasized that recognizing genuine participants of the Uttarakhand statehood movement remains a priority.

Extended Deadline for Pending Applications

The period for disposal of pending applications at District Magistrate offices has been extended from July 24, 2026, to September 24, 2026.

Approval for ₹213 Crore Development Projects

The Chief Minister has also approved financial and administrative sanctions worth ₹213 crore for various infrastructure and development projects across the state.

Improvement of Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra Route

For preparations related to the historic Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra in Chamoli district, ₹8.68 crore has been approved for the strengthening and blacktopping of the first 10-kilometre stretch of the Nalgaon–Bhatiyana motor road.

Kumbh Mela 2027 Preparations

The government has approved a proposal worth ₹35 crore for police and security management arrangements related to Kumbh Mela 2027, providing a boost to preparations for the event.

Focus on Both Development and Statehood Activists

The government stated that while steps are being taken to address the concerns of statehood activists, equal emphasis is being placed on infrastructure development, public services, road connectivity, and preparations for major religious events.
