Bhimtal: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday announced development projects worth ₹96.71 crore for the Bhimtal region. The package includes the inauguration of six projects worth ₹67 crore and the foundation laying of seven projects worth ₹29.71 crore.
During the event, the Chief Minister made several key announcements, including:
- Construction of a multipurpose building for ex-servicemen and traders in Bhimtal.
- Inclusion of Bhimeshwar Temple and Pashupatinath Temple under the Temple Garland Mission.
- Early operationalization of the Ramgarh Sub-Tehsil.
- Formation of a high-level committee to address issues related to development authority regulations in the region.
- Integration of the Odhakhan–Mukteshwar motor road with the jeep route network.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Chief Minister called for making environmental conservation a mass movement. He emphasized that Uttarakhand’s identity is rooted in its forests, rivers, biodiversity, and Himalayan heritage, making environmental protection a collective responsibility.
He urged citizens to plant a tree in their mother’s name and nurture it into a full-grown tree. Referring to climate change, he noted that rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, drying water sources, and increasing natural disasters highlight the urgent need for environmental protection.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s initiatives in water conservation, river rejuvenation, afforestation, and green energy promotion. He noted that Uttarakhand is the first state in India to implement the concept of Gross Environmental Product (GEP), reflecting a balanced approach between development and environmental sustainability.
Before the event, he offered prayers at the Shri Hanuman Temple for the prosperity and well-being of the state.
