Politics Intensifies Over Rahul Gandhi’s Visit; CM Dhami Responds to Congress Allegations

Dehradun: Political tensions have escalated in Uttarakhand after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s proposed visit to Almora was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Responding to Congress allegations, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the disruption was caused solely by bad weather and that blaming the government was baseless.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the helicopter intended for Rahul Gandhi’s travel had been arranged by his party and was operated by their pilot. Therefore, holding the state government responsible for the incomplete journey was unjustified.

He added that flight operations are often affected by poor weather conditions and that politicizing such situations is inappropriate.

Congress Criticism Rejected

CM Dhami accused Congress of attempting to create a political narrative without factual basis. He stated that the public understands the reality and that the Uttarakhand government maintains a neutral approach toward the programs of all political parties, providing necessary administrative support whenever required.

Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to address a public rally in Almora, but unfavorable weather prevented his helicopter from reaching the destination. He later addressed party workers and supporters virtually and expressed his intention to visit Uttarakhand again soon.

Following the incident, Congress leaders raised questions about the disruption of the program. However, CM Dhami dismissed the allegations, emphasizing that weather-related circumstances should not be turned into political controversies.

As the exchange of statements continues, Uttarakhand politics once again sees the BJP and Congress facing off, even as both parties prepare for upcoming assembly elections.
