Dehradun: The arrest of Uttarakhand chef Keshav Negi in connection with the Malviya Nagar fire incident in Delhi is gaining significant attention. Amid the controversy, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over the phone and requested a transparent and impartial investigation into the matter.
CM Dhami stated that his conversation with the Delhi Chief Minister was positive. She assured him that no innocent person would face injustice and that the investigation would be conducted solely on the basis of facts and evidence.
Assurance to Keshav Negi’s Daughter
Chief Minister Dhami also spoke with Keshav Negi’s daughter, Kanishka Negi, and assured the family of all possible assistance. He said that the Uttarakhand government stands firmly with all Uttarakhand residents living across the country and considers protecting their interests its responsibility.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Delhi government and the investigating agencies would conduct a fair inquiry, bring out the truth, and ensure that no innocent person is falsely implicated.
MPs Also Demand Fair Investigation
Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat and Garhwal MP Anil Baluni have also spoken with Delhi Police officials, demanding a transparent and impartial investigation. Both leaders emphasized the need to ensure fairness in the inquiry.
21 People Lost Their Lives in the Malviya Nagar Fire
On June 3, a massive fire broke out at a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar at around 8 a.m. The tragedy claimed the lives of 21 people trapped in the basement due to smoke inhalation and burns, while several others were injured. Most of the deceased were reportedly foreign nationals. During the rescue operation, 10 police personnel were also injured by the fire and smoke. The hotel owner has already been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
