Dehradun: Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters on the completion of 12 years of the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Modi government has moved away from the politics of appeasement and adopted a policy focused on public satisfaction and welfare. He claimed that India has achieved unprecedented progress over the past 12 years in national security, infrastructure, global standing, and public welfare.
India’s Security Policy Has Changed
CM Dhami stated that the “New India” knows how to respond to terrorism in its own language and even within its own territory. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India’s security policy has become stronger, more decisive, and more effective.
Record Infrastructure Growth
The Chief Minister said that while India once built an average of 11 kilometers of roads per day, the figure has now increased to approximately 34 kilometers per day. He added that the expansion of roads, railways, digital networks, and other infrastructure has accelerated the country’s development.
Referring to areas previously affected by Naxalism, he said that effective control has been established in regions such as Bastar, allowing development to reach these areas.
Prime Minister’s Special Connection with Uttarakhand
CM Dhami emphasized that Prime Minister Modi shares a special emotional bond with Uttarakhand and has visited the state 28 times so far. Under his leadership, the reconstruction of Kedarnath Dham was undertaken, and both Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham have emerged with a renewed and grand identity.
He also noted that Prime Minister Modi referred to Mana village not as the country’s “last village” but as its “first village,” presenting a new vision for border-area development. As a result, development projects in frontier regions have gained momentum, and local women are becoming economically empowered through self-help groups, moving toward becoming “Lakhpati Didis.”
Criticism of Rahul Gandhi
During the press conference, CM Dhami also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He questioned why Rahul Gandhi did not visit Uttarakhand according to his scheduled program if weather conditions were completely clear. He alleged that Congress focuses on politics of accusations, whereas the BJP works on the basis of development and public trust.
BJP Enjoys Public Confidence
The Chief Minister said that while Congress practices dynastic politics, the BJP moves forward on the foundation of public confidence. He claimed that projects such as the Char Dham initiative, border-area development, Digital India, welfare schemes for the poor, and infrastructure expansion have gained momentum under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, with many long-pending projects now completed.
Indications of Preparation for the 2027 Elections
Politically, the press conference is being viewed as significant. By highlighting the achievements of the Modi government over the past 12 years, the BJP signaled its intention to strengthen its strategy for upcoming elections around themes of development, nationalism, and public welfare.
CM Dhami concluded by saying that both the central and state governments are continuously working together to realize the vision of a Developed India and a Developed Uttarakhand.
