Dehradun/Haridwar: Taking a strict stance on complaints of negligence in official duties, the Uttarakhand Government has removed Haridwar District Panchayati Raj Officer (DPRO) Atul Pratap Singh from his position. He has been attached to the Panchayati Raj Directorate in Dehradun with immediate effect. Official orders regarding the action have been issued by the government.
To ensure that departmental work continues without disruption, the government has assigned additional charge of the DPRO office to Haridwar Chief Development Officer (CDO) Lalit Narayan Mishra.
According to reports, the government had been receiving continuous complaints regarding alleged negligence and irregularities in the functioning of DPRO Atul Pratap Singh. Acting on complaint letters submitted by local residents of Haridwar, the government took cognizance of the matter and initiated action by removing him from the post at the preliminary stage.
Three-Member Inquiry Committee Formed
To ensure an impartial investigation, the government has constituted a three-member inquiry committee. The committee includes:
- Dhruv Mohan Singh Rana, Joint Secretary to the Government
- Rajeev Kumar Nath Tripathi, Joint Director, Panchayati Raj Department
- Shashi Singh, Financial Controller
The committee is expected to visit Haridwar soon to investigate the complaints and submit its report to the government. Further action will be determined based on the findings of the inquiry.
For the time being, CDO Lalit Narayan Mishra will oversee the responsibilities of the Panchayati Raj Department in Haridwar. Government sources indicate that a decision regarding the appointment of a regular DPRO may be taken after the investigation process is completed.
