Haridwar: A two-day meeting of the Central Guiding Council of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad concluded at the Nishkam Seva Trust Ashram in Bhupatwala. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, VHP International President Alok Kumar, and several religious leaders.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister said that saints and VHP representatives had deliberated on various issues concerning the broader interests of society and the nation. He added that receiving the blessings of the saints was a matter of privilege and expressed confidence in their support for the successful organization of the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
VHP International President Alok Kumar reiterated the demand for stricter laws on cow protection and cow welfare. He stated that the organization has been campaigning for cow protection for years and rescues large numbers of cattle from slaughter annually. He urged the government to enact stronger legislation to improve protection measures.
The meeting also discussed allegations related to donations collected for the Ram Mandir. Alok Kumar said that the trust is accountable for every rupee received and has itself requested a government inquiry. He stated that the trust is fully cooperating with investigators and that action should be taken if anyone is found guilty. He also called for impartial investigations into other related trusts.
The council emphasized building a drug-free society, strengthening social harmony, and promoting unity within Hindu society. A resolution was also passed calling for a review of existing marriage and family-related laws to reinforce the family institution.
Dandi Swami Jitendranand Saraswati expressed concern over rising divorce rates, family breakdowns, and changing social conditions. He suggested that laws related to same-sex marriage and live-in relationships should be reviewed at the parliamentary level to strengthen the traditional Indian family system.
During the two-day deliberations, saints and VHP office-bearers discussed issues related to Sanatan culture, cow protection, social awareness, and national unity, passing several resolutions on these subjects.
