CM Dhami’s Message on Nihang Controversy: Respect for All, Action Against Those Disturbing Harmony

Haridwar: Speaking at a saints’ conference held at Hari Seva Ashram, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the recent Nihang-related controversy and reiterated that Uttarakhand’s culture is rooted in respect for all communities and visitors.

He stated that every guest visiting Devbhoomi is welcome and that the government will ensure no visitor faces inconvenience. However, he also made it clear that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt law and order.

The Chief Minister said he had held constructive discussions on the matter with the Chief Minister of Punjab and assured that any action taken would be impartial and strictly within the framework of law.

Highlighting the state’s strong connection with Sikh heritage, he noted that Uttarakhand is home to important Sikh pilgrimage sites such as Hemkund Sahib, Nanakmatta Sahib, and Reetha Sahib.

He emphasized that Sikh Gurus have deep historical ties with the region and have been respected for centuries. While reaffirming equal respect for all religions and faiths, he warned that any attempt to disturb social harmony would invite strict legal action.

Responding to questions on the Ram Temple issue, the Chief Minister criticized the opposition, saying it was attempting to create unnecessary controversies due to a lack of substantive issues.

He concluded by stating that Uttarakhand has always been known for peace, spirituality, and tolerance, and that the government remains fully committed to preserving that identity.
