Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the safety, convenience, and dignity of pilgrims visiting the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib are the state government’s top priorities. During a high-level meeting held on Tuesday at the Secretariat, he instructed officials to ensure the comfort and welfare of all pilgrims and further strengthen arrangements.
Welcoming pilgrims and tourists to Uttarakhand, he described the state as a priceless treasure of faith, culture, and natural beauty. He urged visitors to enjoy their journey and not pay attention to rumors or misleading information.
Referring to recent incidents in Karnaprayag and Nagarasu, the Chief Minister said that the government, administration, and police are taking impartial action while considering all aspects of the matter. Those found guilty during investigations have already faced action, and further strict measures will be taken based on established facts.
He noted that more than 4 million pilgrims have visited the Char Dham shrines so far this year, while the Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage has recorded 25,000 more visitors in its initial phase compared to the previous year. According to him, this reflects growing faith in Uttarakhand’s religious and spiritual significance.
CM Dhami highlighted that sacred Sikh pilgrimage sites such as Hemkund Sahib, Reetha Sahib, and Nanakmatta Sahib are important parts of the state’s religious heritage. He added that Uttarakhand’s culture is rooted in the principle of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (The Guest is God), and every pilgrim is treated with respect and hospitality.
Expressing concern over misleading and inflammatory content circulating on social media, he warned that legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to spread hostility between communities. He appealed to citizens to help maintain social harmony and brotherhood.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government would not tolerate any act that harms an individual’s dignity, religious faith, or social harmony, stressing that dialogue, goodwill, and mutual trust are the keys to resolving problems.
