Special Lok Adalat to Hear 199 Cases from Uttarakhand; Chief Secretary Directs Time-Bound Resolution

Dehradun: A review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan was held at the Secretariat to assess pending cases proposed by the state government for the upcoming Special Lok Adalat (Samadhan Samaroh 2026), scheduled to be organized at the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi this August.

During the meeting, department-wise pending cases and their prospects for settlement were discussed in detail. The Chief Secretary directed all concerned departments to thoroughly examine the identified cases and prioritize efforts toward amicable settlements so that the maximum number of disputes can be resolved through the Special Lok Adalat.

Officials informed the meeting that a total of 199 cases from Uttarakhand have been identified for consideration. These include civil and criminal matters, banking disputes, consumer complaints, family disputes, labor and industrial law cases, land acquisition matters, compensation claims, property tax disputes, rent control and eviction cases, service-related matters, and transfer petitions.

The Chief Secretary instructed departmental nodal officers to establish effective communication with all concerned parties and actively pursue out-of-court settlements. He emphasized regular progress reviews and stronger coordination at both state and district levels.

Anand Bardhan said that the Special Lok Adalat is an important step toward strengthening alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, helping citizens avoid lengthy court proceedings while saving time and resources.
