Allocate 13,576 houses by August 15; complete PMAY projects on schedule: Chief Secretary

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has directed officials to complete projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) within the prescribed timeline and ensure weekly reviews and regular monitoring. He specifically instructed that 13,576 houses constructed under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) scheme be allotted and made operational by 15 August 2026.

Chairing the State-Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee meeting of the Urban Development Department at the Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Secretary said that all projects must be completed within the timelines agreed upon under the Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of India. He directed the Secretaries of Housing and Urban Development, the Director of Urban Development, and the Chief Town and Country Planner (CTCP) to jointly conduct regular reviews and expedite implementation.

He further instructed the Secretaries of Urban Development and Housing to carry out weekly monitoring of affordable housing projects to prevent delays at any stage. Continuous monitoring, he said, would ensure timely completion and faster delivery of houses to beneficiaries.

The meeting also directed officials to prioritise housing allocation for beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi Scheme, sanitation workers, and other eligible families. The Chief Secretary said the government’s objective is to provide housing to deserving families in a time-bound manner through coordinated efforts by all concerned departments.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Dr. V. Shanmugam, Director of Urban Development Vinod Giri Goswami, Additional Secretary Kalyani, Jharna Kamthan, and other senior officials.
