Centre Appoints 10 Officers, Including 6 IRS Officers, to ED; 7 Deputy Directors & 3 Assistant Directors Posted on Deputation

New Delhi: The Central Government has appointed 10 officers, including six IRS and one IRAS officer, to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on a combined three-year deputation tenure, strengthening the agency’s investigative and enforcement capabilities.

The appointments include seven Deputy Directors and three Assistant Directors, drawn primarily from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS).

The appointments have been made for a tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, in accordance with the applicable deputation rules.

Seven Officers Appointed as Deputy Directors

The following officers have been appointed as Deputy Directors in the Enforcement Directorate:

  • Ashish Kumar (IRS – Customs & Indirect Taxes) – CBIC
  • Venkatesh M (IRS – Customs & Indirect Taxes) – CBIC
  • Rohit Kumar (IRS – Income Tax) – CBDT
  • Chandrakanth Reddy Mallu (IRS – Income Tax) – CBDT
  • Akshay Kabra (IRS – Income Tax) – CBDT
  • Siddharth Gupta (IRS – Income Tax) – CBDT
  • T. Chitra (Indian Railway Accounts Service – IRAS) – Ministry of Railways

Three Officers Appointed as Assistant Directors

The Centre has also appointed the following officers as Assistant Directors in the Enforcement Directorate:

  • Sravan Kumar Reddy V (Income Tax Officer) – CBDT
  • Gopal Kumar Jha (Income Tax Officer) – CBDT
  • Nitin Verma (Income Tax Officer) – CBDT

Strengthening the Enforcement Directorate

The latest appointments are expected to bolster the Enforcement Directorate’s capacity in handling investigations related to money laundering, foreign exchange violations, and other economic offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

The induction of officers from the IRS, IRAS and Income Tax Department reflects the Centre’s continued focus on strengthening the ED with experienced officers possessing expertise in taxation, financial investigations and public finance.
