Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government is working rapidly to develop Uttarakhand as one of the leading wedding destinations in the country and the world. He said that the “Wed in Uttarakhand” campaign will not only strengthen the local economy but also create new opportunities for employment and self-employment.
Addressing the “Grace Hindustan 2.0 Uttarakhand” National Wedding Professionals Conference held at Punarnava Wellness Resort on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Road, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, spiritual heritage, and cultural identity make it the most suitable state for destination weddings.
The Chief Minister said that places such as Triyuginarayan Temple, the sacred wedding site of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, along with Ukhimath, Ramnagar, Tehri, and Mussoorie, are being developed as world-class wedding destinations. He added that destination weddings will directly benefit not only hotels and resorts but also local artisans, folk artists, homestay operators, taxi drivers, and small business owners.
He said that the state government is giving special emphasis to spiritual and wellness tourism along with wedding tourism. Initiatives such as the development of Kedarkhand and Manaskhand, the Haridwar-Rishikesh Corridor, Sharda Corridor, Vivekananda Corridor, and the Winter Yatra will help promote tourism throughout the year.
The Chief Minister said that due to better law and order, investor-friendly policies, and strong connectivity through roads, railways, ropeways, and heliports, Uttarakhand is becoming the first choice for investors. He invited wedding planners, event professionals, and investors from across the country to partner in the development of tourism in Uttarakhand and share their suggestions.
