Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. As part of this initiative, the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station in Dehradun was also dedicated to the nation. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, stating that the Harrawala Railway Station, redeveloped at a cost of approximately ₹19 crore, is a fine blend of modern amenities and Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage. Traditional Aipan art has been incorporated into the station premises, while state-of-the-art facilities have been developed for passengers.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Indian Railways is undergoing rapid modernisation. Along with the introduction of modern trains such as Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat, the expansion and modernisation of the railway network are giving the country a new direction. He stated that more than 75 percent of the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Rail Project has been completed, which will provide fresh momentum to the development of hilly regions, tourism, and the local economy.
The Chief Minister said that the Central Government has allocated a record railway budget of ₹4,769 crore to Uttarakhand this year for railway infrastructure development, while railway projects worth nearly ₹39,491 crore are currently under implementation in the state. He expressed confidence that the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station will play a significant role in Uttarakhand’s development journey and further strengthen the vision of a Developed Uttarakhand alongside a Developed India.
