Uttarakhand Gets a New Rail Service; Ramnagar–Dehradun Express Flagged Off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and CM Dhami

Ramnagar: For the first time since the formation of Uttarakhand, a direct express train connecting Ramnagar with the state capital, Dehradun, has been launched. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the Ramnagar–Dehradun Express virtually. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined the programme via video conferencing and extended his congratulations to the people of the state on the launch of the new rail service.

Addressing the event held at Ramnagar Railway Station, Member of Parliament Anil Baluni described the new train service as a historic achievement for the Kumaon region, saying that it would provide fresh momentum to tourism, trade, education, and employment. He added that efforts would be made to increase the train’s operation from two days a week to six days a week and to introduce a superfast train connecting Ramnagar with Delhi.

A large number of local residents, public representatives, and railway officials were present during the programme. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the new rail service would strengthen connectivity between Kumaon and Garhwal and provide significant convenience to students, working professionals, traders, and tourists.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Indian Railways is continuously expanding modern railway facilities in Uttarakhand, and that this new express train is another important step in that direction.

Train Schedule

The Ramnagar–Dehradun Express will operate every Wednesday and Friday, departing from Ramnagar at 5:50 a.m. and arriving in Dehradun at 12:40 p.m. On the return journey, the train will depart from Dehradun at 3:55 p.m. and reach Ramnagar at 11:30 p.m.

During its journey, the train will halt in both directions at several major stations, including Kashipur, Roshanpur, Pipalsana, Moradabad, Najibabad, and Haridwar. The new rail service is expected to directly benefit thousands of passengers from the Kumaon region while giving a fresh boost to tourism and the local economy.
