Dehradun: Women boxers from Uttarakhand have brought pride to the state through their outstanding performances at the international level. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured international medal-winning boxers Nikita Chand, Kajal Farswan, and Aarti Dhariyal from Pithoragarh at the Chief Minister’s residence. Their coaches, Brijendra Mal and Lalit Kunwar, were also felicitated, and the Chief Minister extended his best wishes for the athletes’ bright future.
At the recently concluded Under-23 Asian Boxing Championships held in Jakarta, Indonesia, Nikita Chand won a silver medal in the 60 kg category, while Kajal Farswan secured a silver medal in the 65 kg category, bringing glory to both India and Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, boxer Aarti Dhariyal from Pithoragarh won the gold medal in the 54 kg category at the Golden Belt Boxing Tournament held in Romania.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the daughters of Uttarakhand are continuously setting new benchmarks through their talent, hard work, and determination. He said that their achievements serve as an inspiration for the youth of the state and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing athletes with better training, modern sports infrastructure, and all necessary resources.
He added that the government’s objective is to help sporting talent from Uttarakhand reach national and international platforms. He expressed confidence that the state’s daughters would continue to bring laurels to both Uttarakhand and the country in the years to come.
