Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched several new welfare schemes for registered construction workers under the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. During a programme held at the Chief Sevak Sadan in the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, he also flagged off two state-of-the-art mobile medical vans under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme for workers and their families.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with full commitment for the welfare of workers. He said that through the Chief Minister’s Nutrition Scheme, nutritional support will be provided to workers’ families; under the Chief Minister’s Educational Material Scheme, study materials will be provided to children; and through the Chief Minister’s Sanitation Material Distribution Programme, hygiene kits will be provided to workers’ families.
He said that under the Chief Minister’s Yoga and Wellness Aarogya Scheme, 210 children from workers’ families will be provided free residential yoga and wellness training every year. Arrangements have also been made to connect youth receiving technical training with employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister said that mobile medical vans launched under the Chief Minister’s Workers’ Health Testing Scheme will reach workers’ workplaces and residences to provide healthcare services. These vans will offer 44 types of tests, including X-rays and ECGs, free of cost, along with expert medical consultation through tele-consultation services. The scheme has been started in Pauri Garhwal and Champawat and will be expanded across the state in phases.
The Chief Minister said that the state government considers workers not merely as labour force but as the development force of Uttarakhand. The government is providing social and economic security to workers through schemes related to children’s education, maternity assistance for women, daughters’ marriages, housing, tools, bicycles, sewing machines, and pensions for elderly workers.
The Chief Minister appealed to all eligible construction workers to regularly renew their registration with the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board so that they can avail the benefits of all government welfare schemes.
The programme was attended by MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Savita Kapoor, Durgeshwar Lal, Labour Commissioner P.C. Dumka, and several public representatives and officials.
