Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister and senior Congress leader Hira Singh Bisht was cremated with full state honors. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, leaders from various political parties, social activists, and a large number of people paid their last respects.
Chief Minister Dhami visited Bisht’s residence on Sewak Ashram Road, offered floral tributes to his mortal remains, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. He said that Hira Singh Bisht’s contribution to public service and social welfare would always be remembered.
According to reports, Bisht was taken to a private hospital after complaining of chest pain, where he passed away. He had been unwell for a long time. His death has cast a shadow of grief over the state’s political circles and the Congress party.
Hira Singh Bisht was widely regarded as the voice of workers and residents of underprivileged settlements. He fought for labor rights throughout his career and played an active role in the politics of both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He served as Cabinet Minister for important departments including Transport, Labour, and Technical Education, and was also the state president of INTUC.
Uttarakhand Congress President Ganesh Godiyal described his death as an irreparable loss to both the state and the Congress family. Cabinet Minister Khajan Das said that Bisht would always be remembered as a humble, approachable, and widely respected leader who rose above partisan politics.
