Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has announced an increase in the ex-gratia amount for Param Vir Chakra awardees to ₹2 crore. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government remains fully committed to honoring and supporting brave soldiers and their families.
The Chief Minister also approved financial sanctions exceeding ₹62 crore for various development projects across the state. These include ₹6.62 crore for the purchase of land to establish an 8 MLD sewage treatment plant in the Tapkeshwar Mahadev area of Dehradun and ₹41.37 crore for 21 NABARD-funded development projects.
As part of preparations for Haridwar Mahakumbh 2027, the government sanctioned ₹5.46 crore for barricading, fire watch towers, and other essential infrastructure, along with ₹6.85 crore for the construction of temporary night shelters.
Funds have also been approved for the beautification of temples, construction of dharamshalas, and the development of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park in Almora, Dwarahat, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar. In addition, ₹36.84 lakh has been sanctioned as scholarships for the children of ex-servicemen.
The Chief Minister further approved the organization of Police Station Day and Night Chaupal programmes in the Vibrant Villages located in border areas. These initiatives aim to address local issues related to law and order, document verification, cyber awareness, and police-related grievances at the grassroots level.
