Dehradun: On the occasion of Teelu Rauteli Jayanti on Saturday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented the Teelu Rauteli Awards to 13 women and the Anganwadi Worker Awards to 35 Anganwadi workers at a felicitation ceremony held at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office.
The Chief Minister said that the legendary warrior Teelu Rauteli is an immortal symbol of courage, valour and women’s empowerment. He said the achievements of the awardees would inspire other daughters and women across the state.
Increase in Award Money Announced
The Chief Minister announced that the prize money for the Teelu Rauteli Award would be increased from ₹51,000 to ₹75,000. Similarly, the prize money for the Anganwadi Worker Award would be increased from ₹51,000 to ₹61,000.
He said the increase in prize money reflects the government’s respect for the service, dedication and contribution of women in the state.
Government Focuses on Women’s Empowerment
The Chief Minister said the state government is implementing various schemes to make women economically self-reliant. Women are being empowered through 30 percent horizontal reservation in government services, interest-free loans for women’s self-help groups and various self-employment schemes.
He said the government stands with girls at every stage, from their birth to education, nutrition, safety and self-employment.
CM Appreciates the Role of Anganwadi Workers
The Chief Minister described Anganwadi workers as an important link in children’s nutrition, health, early development and value-based upbringing. He said Anganwadi workers play a crucial role in taking government schemes to the last mile.
The state government has increased the honorarium of Anganwadi workers from ₹7,500 to ₹9,300, that of mini Anganwadi workers from ₹4,500 to ₹6,250, and that of helpers from ₹3,550 to ₹5,250. Provision has also been made for the promotion of Anganwadi workers to the post of supervisor.
The Chief Minister said that empowered women are the foundation of a strong Uttarakhand. He added that the government would continue working for the dignity, safety, economic self-reliance and rights of women.
