Dehradun: The Central Government has taken a positive step towards expanding medical education and healthcare facilities in Uttarakhand following an initiative by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda has directed the concerned authorities to examine the proposals for establishing a super-specialty hospital and a paramedical college in Uttarakhand at the departmental level.
Chief Minister Dhami had placed before the Central Government proposals to establish both institutions under Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University. In a letter sent to the Chief Minister, Union Minister Nadda stated that both proposals had been forwarded to the concerned departments and divisions for examination.
The establishment of a super-specialty hospital is expected to strengthen advanced medical facilities in the state for the treatment of serious and complex diseases. Meanwhile, the proposed paramedical college will help create a trained workforce and provide the healthcare system with the technical and support staff it requires.
Chief Minister Dhami described the examination of both proposals by the Central Government as an important step towards strengthening medical education and the healthcare system in Uttarakhand.
