Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed various ongoing and proposed ropeway projects in the state on Wednesday. He directed BRIDCUL to soon issue ropeway regulations and rules for the effective operation and regulation of ropeway projects.
The Chief Secretary said that ropeway connectivity in mountainous areas could play an important role in transforming tourism and transportation. He directed officials to prioritize and resolve pending procedures, land-related issues, and matters concerning inter-departmental coordination in order to accelerate the projects.
He also directed that parking facilities must be made an integral part of all ropeway projects so that tourists and local residents can benefit from better traffic management and transportation facilities.
During the meeting, the progress of the Kedarnath Dham and Hemkund Sahib ropeway projects was reviewed, and the concerned agencies were directed to expedite the upcoming work. Emphasis was also placed on better coordination among the agencies involved in the Ranibagh–Jyolikot–Hanumangarhi–Kainchi Dham and Ranibagh–Bhimtal–Bhowali ropeway projects in the Nainital region.
In addition, the Joshimath–Auli–Gorson, Raithal–Barsu, Purkul, Yamunotri–Janki Chatti, Hanumanchatti–Purnagiri, and Tapovan–Kunjpura ropeway projects were also reviewed. The Chief Secretary directed officials to resolve land-related issues and other pending procedures at the earliest and ensure that the projects move forward in a time-bound manner.
