CM Dhami Attacks Sheikh Abu Bakar Ahmed Over Remarks on Women, Also Targets Rahul Gandhi

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has strongly reacted to the alleged remarks made by Kerala Grand Mufti Sheikh Abu Bakar Ahmed concerning women. Describing the remarks as extremely objectionable, he also targeted the Congress and Rahul Gandhi. The Chief Minister said that Indian culture and scriptures accord women the status of goddesses, and that respect for women is an integral part of the country’s traditions.

The Chief Minister alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders often speak about women’s empowerment and social justice, but their silence on such remarks raises questions. He said that if the Congress is genuinely serious about respecting women, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi should have explicitly condemned Sheikh Abu Bakar Ahmed’s remarks.

Dhami said that the BJP does not support such statements. Accusing the Congress of practising vote-bank politics, he said Rahul Gandhi makes statements on different platforms to appease a particular section of society. The Chief Minister also referred to alleged cases involving provocative and inflammatory slogans in Uttarakhand and questioned the silence of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi on those matters.

The Chief Minister also reacted to Rahul Gandhi’s alleged remarks about separate glasses being used at tea shops. He said that he too had travelled to many parts of the country but had never seen shopkeepers give someone a separate glass after asking about the person’s caste or name.

Targeting the Congress, the Chief Minister said that politics cannot be run merely by making statements for votes; political parties have to work for the people. He claimed that the Congress has been repeatedly rejected by voters in elections and that the party’s political ground has now weakened considerably.
