Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a grand programme organised at the Police Lines in Dehradun on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) was also present at the event. The birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated at the Police Lines premises with devotion, enthusiasm and religious fervour.
CM Dhami encouraged and felicitated the artists who performed in the cultural programmes. Appreciating their performances, he said that India’s rich cultural and religious traditions help society remain connected to its roots. Such events provide the younger generation with an opportunity to understand Indian culture, Sanatan traditions, and the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.
Extending Janmashtami greetings to the people of the state, the Chief Minister said that the life of Lord Krishna inspires people to follow truth, righteousness, duty, karma and the welfare of society. The message of Karma Yoga given in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita continues to remain relevant to humanity even today. He called upon the people of Uttarakhand to incorporate Lord Krishna’s ideals into their lives and contribute to the development of the state.
Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) also extended his greetings to the people of the state on Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
The programme was attended by Chief Minister Dhami’s wife Geeta Dhami, former Chief Minister and former Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari, public representatives, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, senior officers of the state government and administration, as well as officers and personnel of the Police Department.
