Dehradun: The Dhami government has continued its action against madrasas operating without recognition and prescribed educational standards in Uttarakhand. Five unrecognised madrasas in Dehradun and Haldwani have been shut down following action by the authorities.
According to Secretary for Minority Affairs Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, action was taken against three madrasas in Dehradun. Madarsa Jamia-Tus-Salam Al-Islamia in Azad Colony was sealed, while the managements of Madarsa Dar-e-Arqam and Madarsa Darul Uloom Rahimia submitted written consent to discontinue their operations.
In Haldwani, Madarsa Jamia Nooria Barkate Aamina, located on Shani Bazaar Road in Gauja Jali North, and another unrecognised madrasa in Indira Nagar, Banbhoolpura, were also sealed. The concerned managements had been directed to submit documents related to recognition, but when the required documents were not produced, action was taken as per the rules.
According to the government, 17 madrasas have so far been sealed in the state, while the managements of three madrasas have voluntarily submitted written information about discontinuing their operations. Thus, operations at a total of 20 unrecognised madrasas have been stopped so far.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to ensure that no educational institution in the state operates without complying with prescribed rules and obtaining the required recognition. He said there would be no compromise on children’s future or the quality of education. Action against institutions violating the rules will continue in accordance with the law.
