Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police has reassigned key responsibilities among four senior officers, including three IPS officers and one DANIPS officer, as part of a fresh reshuffle with immediate effect.
The changes bring new leadership to important wings including Operations, Cyber Crime, Vigilance, Crime, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Security and Traffic, Women and Child Support Unit (W&CSU), and Intelligence.
Rajesh Kumar Sharma Gets Cybercrime, Operations Charge
Rajesh Kumar Sharma, a 2014-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, who was recently transferred to Chandigarh from Jammu and Kashmir, has been assigned multiple responsibilities.
He will serve as:
- SSP/Operations
- SSP/Cyber Crime
- Commandant, IRB
- Assistant Commandant General, Home Guards
The Operations and Cyber Crime portfolios were earlier held by 2015-batch IPS officer Geetanjali Khandelwal, who has since been transferred to Delhi.
Sharma was among the IPS officers transferred to Chandigarh in July as part of an AGMUT cadre reshuffle.
Vinit Kumar Gets Headquarters, Communication
2018-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, Vinit Kumar, transferred from Delhi to Chandigarh, has been posted as SP/Headquarters and Communication.
He will additionally look after the Vigilance branch.
Anurag Daru Shifted to Crime, EOW
Anurag Daru, a 2022-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has also received a revised set of responsibilities.
He has been posted as:
- SP/Crime
- SP/Economic Offences Wing
- SP/Security and Traffic
Before the reshuffle, Daru was serving as Commandant, IRB, while also handling Security and Traffic and other additional responsibilities.
DANIPS Officer Vijay Gets City, Intelligence Charge
DANIPS officer Vijay has been moved from SP/Headquarters and Communication and assigned charge of:
- SP/City
- Women and Child Support Unit
- Intelligence
The SP/City responsibility was earlier held by 2021-batch IPS officer K M Priyanka, who was transferred to Jammu and Kashmir.
DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh to Oversee Multiple Wings
Under the new arrangement, DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh will oversee the functioning of several major wings, including Headquarters, Operations, Cyber Crime, Communication, Vigilance, Crime, EOW, IRB and the Assistant Commandant General, Home Guards.
The latest orders assign new responsibilities to four senior police officers across key operational, crime, headquarters and intelligence wings.
